Mould, Dust, Allergies and Asthma in UK Buildings
Many common contaminates including mould and components of household dust have been proven to be either allergenic or capable of triggering asthma and other respiratory irritations. Some household chemical products are likewise linked and sometimes combinations of products create synergistic reactions too. Mould has now been confirmed as an asthmagen, but bacteria can sometimes compete for the same food as mould and different chemical release is possible which are typically exotoxins, endotoxins, metabolites and mycotoxins all of which can cause serious health issues. Formaldehyde used in glues and furniture finishes can cause allergic reactions as can glss fibre type products used for insulation. (See link to WHO) Medical Issues The National Health Service & the medical profession now generally recognise the link between chemical exposure such as mould or dust but sometimes have difficulty in identifying the cause or agent responsible. We can work with the medical team and often provide specific allergens such as IgE Penicillium-aspergilli’s which invariably can be detected by blood analysis and result in treatment or allergen removal. What we do We collect samples using various techniques and send them to our laboratory for detailed analysis and send you an easy to read report of specific and general findings. This information will assist you in reducing the hazard and risk and may prevent allergic reactions from developing or getting worse.
