How can we help you and assist your doctor?

Building forensics expertise is in water damaged buildings and associated health effects and material damage. We are not medically trained but are conversant with all current testing protocols and methodologies in identifying the cause and contributory factors to known and generally associated health issues.
Following extensive training in USA and over 20 years of hands on practical experience in water damaged buildings we have identified some of the best world wide analytical laboratories and internationally recognised experts.
We are pleased to introduce you to these services and experts and provide you and them with suitable support where required in terms of building investigation.
Without doubt Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker,M.D. is recognised as one of Americas amd possibly the world's leading medical doctors involved in diagnosing and treating people with biotoxin (mould and WDB)  related sickness. Please see his free videos and advice on (web link)
Self assessments for mould and chemical exposure
Millions of Europeans  likely have chronic discomfort and functional impairments they attribute to aging or other causes, not realizing these are due to biotoxins. These biotoxins are often the result of biological amplification in water damaged buildings.
Typically bacteria and mould produce chemicals known as neurotoxins and these can affect physical and mental health. We are pleased to offer the following on line scientific test for self or doctor directed use. The test, used by the military for over 40 years  will assess the possible effects of neurotoxins, produced by moulds usually found in water damage buildings.  (Science of the test pdf) The cost of the test is £15

Medical profession support
Water damaged buildings, WDBs  provide the ideal environment for microbial growth and this can take the form of bacteria, mould, insects, mites, cockroaches and their resultant toxins or allergens.
We provide testing for mould by PCR -DNA, Bacteria, Endotoxins and mycotoxins too. We can sample the dust in vacuum cleaner bags, surface swabs, bulk and air.
Building Forensics provides doctors with:
  • Assessments of water damage and environmental conditions conducive to biological amplification
  • Mould genus and species identification for comparison against their blood/sputum/swab analysis
  • Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) for allergies
  • LAL Limulus Amoebocyte Lysate  for Endotoxin
  • TSC Mould Total Spore countsto identify mould exposure levels (sample pdf)
  • Mould PCR –DNA to provide specific mould genus and speciation (sample pdf)
  • Culture based Rodec and contact plates and SAS air sampling
  • ERMI Environmental Relative Mould Index, (sample pdf )
  • Volatile Organic Compounds  (sample pdf)
  • NEW Mycotoxin residual deposit test.  see table below

Mycotoxin Table of tests and health issues

Usual mould removal techniques do not remove or neutralise the toxins produced by mould. Building Forensics can test to assess the presence of these recognised carcinogens. See mould decontamination section too. Coming
Mycotoxin Mould Genus Toxicities
Aflatoxin Aspergillus Primarily a liver toxin and possibly associated with human liver cancer
T2 toxin

Fusarium

Stachybotrys

Immunosuppression, weight loss, vomiting gastric disturbances Cytoxic Hemorrhagic
Ochratoxin Penicillium Aspergillus Carcinogen, kidney toxicity
Citrinin Aspergillus Penicillium Monascus Toxic to kidneys
Fumonosin Fusarium Toxic to liver and kidneys
Deoxynivalenol (DON) Fusarium Aspergillus Vomiting, weight loss Diarrhoea immunosuppresive
Zearalenone Fusarium Gibberella Oestrogen mimic May cause abortion in animals
Multiple antigens Cladosporium *Most Mycotoxins in systemic circulation elicit a strong pro-inflammatory cytokine response, including TNF alpha & interleukins, thereby inducing multiple-system symptoms*
Note . The VCS test can indicate the presence of these neurotoxins in the body *Statement by Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker
